Role of Elders:

 

1 Timothy 3:1-7 gives qualifications for an Elder in the church. They are charged with the spiritual well being of the congregation and are responsible for the doctrines taught to the flock, which is the body of Christ. 

 

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.


Role of Deacons:

 

1 Timothy 3:8-13 gives qualifications for a Deacon. The seven men in Acts 6:1-6 were believed to be the first chosen Deacons. They were to lighten the burden of the twelve so they could concentrate on the ministry of the word. 

 

Acts 6:3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
